Over the past week and a half, you might have heard a bit about Joe Biden being too old to beat Donald Trump. You might have been treated, upon opening a certain app on your phone, to a take that Biden may be hamstrung from presenting his case against Trump, owing, apparently, to Biden's decline and resultant inability to control the editorial decisions of the country's leading newspaper.

Amid this saturation coverage, you might have missed some other important news, particularly about the theocratic goals of Trump and his Republican Party.

The Republican Party finalized and approved a Christian nationalist platform yesterday in Milwaukee. You wouldn't know it from most of the coverage, which has focused on the supposed "softening" of the abortion plank. (Spoiler: it was not "softened." More on that in a minute.)
